This one is soooo easy for them to do.
How Recruiters Steal Your Best People: Having Unrealistic Expectations of Them
When I did recruiting, one of the ways I was able to pull people out of organizations was playing on my client’s brand versus the brand of the firm this person was currently working for.
The client’s brand became aspirational. Wouldn’t you want to work for so and so? Because there’s a halo around that firm. They have a reputation. The reputation is strongly positive. Everyone knows about them. And thus being associated with this firm plays beneficially for the person I was recruiting.
One of the ways recruiters are able to steal your best people is by playing on their client’s employer brand versus yours. Yours stinks. Well, let me be more blunt. Yours sucks. Theirs is great. It’s very easy to point and say ‘Wouldn’t you like to be associated with them?’
