One of the ways that recruiters are able to sink their claws into your staff, into your best people is when senior leadership, and maybe you, create unrealistic goals and expectations, timelines that have nothing to do with reality.
One day, for example, your salespeople are told, ‘we’re cutting your territory and you have to sell 20% more.’ Your coders are basically told ‘we can’t hire anyone else. But the project deliverables are identical to what they were a week ago. You just have to do it with less.’
This is living in the land of the MBA, where the senior leadership, perhaps even the CEO, went to school in an MBA program in the 90s and lo and behold, they think that the way to success is by cutting costs. Cutting cost isn’t bad, but you gotta raise the top line, too.
