How Many Browser Tabs Do You Keep Open

Tough Interview Questions: How Many Browser Tabs Do You Keep Open? |

I love curveball interview questions! This is one that might be asked of someone less experienced. HINT: It doesn’t matter how many tabs you keep open.

When You’ve Been Made Redundunt, Fired, Laid Off, RIF’d

This is an easy one. It’s going to be asked of you if you’re less experienced, rather than a veteran individual. The question is, “how many browser tabs you keep open.”

Now, personally, I keep a lot open. I handle a lot of stuff in the course of a day, I keep them open as reminders. And for you answering this question, the number of tabs isn’t as importantTHE RIGHT ANSWERS TO TOUGH INTERVIEW QUESTIONS is that you talk about how you’re organized, and how you manage things for yourself in order to accomplish the tasks of your day. After all, there are very few information workers who can keep one tab open all day long and that’s going to be adequate for them. You normally have multiples 5, 15, 25, whatever it is, but you have to be able to explain why it is you work this way,  that you have a plan in mind.

That, in my case, I don’t want to forget things. And I may come back to them a little bit later. Or remind myself the next day about this item that is carried forward from the previous day. And how I structure the tabs so the things I have to act on first are to my left, and the ones I can wait . . . Whatever it is, you talk about your organizational structure, and how you keep these tabs organized so that you get results.

And one of the fun things is when you finish you can say “And one of the things I love is closing out that tab knowing that I got it done.”
