Our Best Self

Sometimes, managers and leaders lose sight of who they are in the rush to deliver output as though there are people are machines.
I’m Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter a coach who helps people professionally in a number of different ways. And our best self for you as a manager or leader. 
I’m differentiating between the two based on your position in an organization, your job is to deliver your best self to your people, as well as get output. You see, most managers, most leaders are so focused they lose and think of their people almost mechanistically. The result winds up being they and you are devalued by your behavior. Why do I say that? Because people are not machines and sometimes leadership, executive leadership makes demands and the price for meeting those demands is even more demands and even more demands.
It’s kind of like there’s an old episode with I Love Lucy where she is attempting to put chocolate in a box and the machine keeps picking up speed and picking up speed and picking up speed until she’s stuffing the mouth and doing whatever she can to try and do to deal with the situation in fact she breaks And, again, what’s your best self? How do you draw those qualities from them, that they deliver at peak? That they are inspired and that they voluntarily want to do things at their best self so that you all get the results that you want.
Sometimes it’s not breaking people it’s about the relationship that you develop with your people that allows them to perform and to step up, because they want to please you, they want to make you happy their times to celebrate and there are times to push them and to see whether or not they can do it but never about what you’re trying to do it’s to get results through your best self.
