A few months ago I applied for a job in a field I’m in. It’s specialized. The company is spectacular.
I was told I was the first pick but that they had a last minute interview with someone who knows the people they work with. Sad. HR and the recruiter said they loved me and they set up an interview in a similar department, but my experience there was not on the same level. The recruiter called me a few weeks later to tell me I didn’t get it, but told me they really enjoyed me and are keeping me in mind for future positions.
Today I was cruising indeed and they have the initial position I applied for posted. It’s been there for a couple of days, almost a week.
Should I give the recruiter a call and say I saw the post? Or should I apply again online? We have a great rapport. I would really love the job. Or should I wait a few days and call her? Or do I not call?
Thanks for any help. I wanna work there so bad!
Here's a fun situation. A few months ago I applied for a job in a field I'm in. It's specialized. The company is spectacular. I was told I was the first pick but that they had a last minute interview with someone who knows the people they work with. Sad. HR and the recruiter said they loved me and they set up an interview in a similar department, but my experience there was not on the same level. The recruiter called me a few weeks later to tell me I didn't get it, but told me they really enjoyed me and are keeping me in mind for future positions. Today I was cruising Indeed and they have the initial position I applied for posted. It's been there for a couple of days, almost a week. Should I give the recruiter a call and say I saw the post? Or should I apply again online? We have a great rapport. I would really love the job. Or should I wait a few days and call her? Or do I not call? Call her? It's really that simple. You're going to learn a lot from hearing her voice when you speak with her. Number one is will she respond to you? Because remember, if you call, she may not take the call, because she may have been blowing smoke at you. "We loved you. You were fabulous." But they really prefer the other person. And you were clearly a distant second choice. So remember, recruiters lie, sometimes because they don't want to hurt feelings. So, here this job is opened up. It could be the person that they hired failed and they don't know if you're available. And she forgot. She's busy. So, reach out to her. If she doesn't respond in a few days, call her again. If she doesn't respond to that, well, maybe she left the firm. Then by all means at around the time of the second application, apply. But, fundamentally, you want to take advantage of the good contacts that you had. I must tell you, if you can call the hiring manager, that's best yet. Don't be reluctant to reach out. Because if you call the hiring manager, he may say, "Oh, this one isn't for me. It's a similar job requirement. Ramesh has this job open. I'll put in a word for you. And that recommendation can mean all the difference. I'm Jeff Altman. Hope you found this helpful. My website is TheBigGameHunter.us. Go there and go exploring. There's a lot there to help you.
