One of the ways your firm is losing your best people is your middle managers are taking them for granted, treating them like a spouse who you’ve been married to for a long time. There’s no romance, there’s no love. There’s no praise. There’s just assuming that they’re always going to be there for you. And trust me, I know a lot of spouses who’ve lost their partners because of that attitude.
So when a recruiter knocks and says, ‘Hey, I’ve got a great opportunity.’Well, they get excited. They get excited again, and that leads them to go out on dates, that leads them to be romanced, that leads them to fall in love with someone else.
