Don’t Wait Till the Last Minute | No BS Coaching Advice

There was a great coaching lesson in Monday nights 2022 NCAA Men’s basketball championship that may go unnoticed.
Kansas was trailing by 15 points at halftime with 20 minutes left. They clearly had not played their best basketball and it showed.
Kansas Coach Bill Self walked into the locker room and lit into his players. He reminded them that it was better to be trailing by 15 points with 20 minutes left than 9 points with 2 minutes left.
The message was clear. Don’t wait until the end of the game to start fighting. NOW, is the time.
Kansas began the second half on a 20-6 run that trimmed North Carolina’s lead to 1 point.
Too often, people wait until the last minute to put in their best effort and push for results.
It’s a lot easier to do it with a lot of time left on the clock than with two minutes left and resigning yourself to defeat.
