3 Easy-to-Do Things So You Intervhttps://wp.me/p4aIk1-PNiew Like an All-Star

By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

It isn’t hard to interview like an all-star. These 3 things will help you do it.

How to Answer The Bizarre Scenario Interview Question

I want to talk to you about three, three, easy to do things that will help you interview like an all-star. The first thing is to prepare. Prepare for predictable questions you might be asked on this interview.

You’ve seen a basic job description. If you were them trying to interview you, what would you ask to determine whether you were qualified for this position? Think about it for a second. In addition to all the standard questions, if you were them trying to evaluate you, what would you ask in order to figure out that you are qualified? That’s basic preparation. In addition, whatever the questions are, say the answers out loud. It’s not enough to think them; you should be prepared to say them so make your mistakes at home rather than in the interview.

Number two, focus on your recent achievements. In doing so, no one wants to hear about things that you did more than 10 years ago. They want to hear about recency–recent work that you’ve done that relates to what they care about. Be prepared with at least three stories that demonstrate how you fit the role. They should follow a framework of either STAR (Situation or Task, Action, Result), SOAR (Situation, Obstacle Action Result). And in preparing those stories, again, say them out loud, but keep your answers to about a minute to a minute 15 so you don’t lose their attention.

Lastly, they want to experience you as a confident person and someone who has a personality. If you act like everyone else, if you act like you’re a drone, and boring, and just unpleasant to be with because you’re like a wet rag, who wants to hire that? They want to hire people who’ve got a little bit of juice to them. That doesn’t matter if you’re 64 or 74 or 24. It’s about how you carry yourself that inspires confidence that you’re the solution to a need.
