The full question as asked to me was, "Why do so many companies expect you to enter your entire career history manually? I've been applying for a job. What's so difficult about processing a resume or CV?" The answer is, there is nothing difficult about processing a resume or CV. Absolutely nothing. But the problem is, if you lie, a resume is not a legal document. Your application is. Especially given that it's in your handwriting.
So, the reason they do it is when they do the background check, if they find that an inconsistency, it's grounds for termination. If you do this with your resume, you know it's different. So the result winds up being, you need to be in a situation where, or they need to be in a situation where they have your proof of what you say and, from there, you know, it's their legal protection.
