Although a polished profile is crucial, the reality is that LinkedIn Recruiter licenses come at a hefty price. Typically, it’s smaller firms and third-party consultants that leverage this the most. For full-time employment (FTE) aspirants, applying directly through Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) is the best way to get into a company’s database and access job descriptions. Major corporations usually turn to LinkedIn Recruiter when struggling to fill a specialized position. Considering the vast pool of job seekers, many of us don’t stand out as unique. My own experience with LinkedIn over the years hasn’t been particularly fruitful, especially when observing the sheer number of applicants for each role. The notion that a paid consultant has a secret formula for success is misleading; most of the guidance they offer can be found for free on platforms like YouTube.
I have a different perspective and that’s ok. I was member 7654 on LinkedIn. I worked in recruiting for a long time before transitioning to coaching. Everything may be available free on YouTube and other places but people want someone to curate it for them. As for Recruiter, I have spoken to many executive and contingency recruiters. Everyone has access to the same database of over 800 million people. Retained people use it, too. I disagree about the ATS for many reasons I have covered in other videos. And I know everything works in job search…just not every time or for everyone. It’s why I have about 8000 videos and podcasts plus 2700+ podcast episodes Thanks for adding your voice. Your perspective is welcome
