I'm Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. I'm a coach who helps people be more effective
with job search hiring managing and leading workplace issues in general the
question I received for someone is "why are employers
less willing to hire an applicant who expresses their discontentment with his or
her previous employer and company well the historical answer to that has
been if they're going to complain about this firm, they're gonna complain
about our firm when they leave they're gonna complain about me as a manager
when they leave and who wants that to happen! It's more textured than that. The
issue is have you become a complainer have you become someone who whines about
everything that doesn't go your way are you a Monday Morning Quarterback do
you advocate for change in the environment and it's not going your way
and now you're complaining or do you advocate for change and, frankly, you
understand why decisions are made and that last one is really the important
one for many people. No one wants to hire a complainer. No one wants to hire
someone who all they're doing is talking abuse back about what they're doing
that's wrong in their judgment who needs that we need people who support
decisions, not second-guess decisions now if you want a second-guess
you do it in private you have a conversation with your manager and said
I don't get where you came from on this decision teach me how you think and they
may say hey look I made a call it may not turn out right but I made a decision
and I thought this was the right choice here." Whatever it is, they want that. They
don't want the complainer or whiner or individual who doesn't work
toward the goal. When you complain, what you're doing is digging
your heels in and put the break song it's a bad habit I know
people who have this habit and all they do is complain about decisions that
people make but they never make one on their own. They are always in the second
guessing seat and you know there's a reason they're in that seat and usually
it's about their behavior where all they do is second-guess and don't put themselves
on the line. I'm Jeff Albin hope you found this
helpful. My website is TheBigGameHunter.us. Go there. Go exploring.
