What Recruiters Know That You Don’t: They’re Stalling for Their Client
One thing recruiters know that most Job Hunters don’t is that power brokers are going to land much more easily. I’m Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. People hire me for no BS job search advice and coaching globally, because I make the hiring process uh make the job search process I should say, much easier.
A quick story. When I did recruiting, I was doing certain searches and I reached out to trade associations and reach out to salespeople. But trade associations were always good to me. I would ask them, “Who do you know who . . . ” and I would ask, I would talk about a particular background I was recruiting for. And they would always pointed me to a particular person who stood out in their mind. There was always that one person who volunteered, gave of themselves, spoke at different groups around the country. And they were doing this online when online was not normal. And thus, they did something to stand out and become visible.
Becoming a Power Broker, becoming the source of knowledge in a particular field is huge for winding up landing in roles. How do you become a power broker? How do you become visible to others? It can be offering of yourself and volunteering for your trade groups. It can be writing and it could be speaking. It can be doing a lot of different things that make you more visible as someone who serves others, who helps others and thus, give more, get more.
