Use Multiple Sources to Find Senior Leaders

Use Multiple Sources to Find Senior Leaders

By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

LinkedIn offered very standard fare in my opinion. “Relying on a single source of candidates, such as job boards or referrals, can limit your options and diversity. You should use multiple sources to reach out to potential candidates, such as social media, industry events, professional networks, alumni associations, or talent agencies. You should also consider passive candidates who are not actively looking for a job, but might be interested in your opportunity if you approach them with a compelling offer. Using multiple sources will help you expand your talent pool and increase your chances of finding the right candidate.”

The Best Ways to Identify Senior Leaders

I offered, “If our definition of senior leader is C suite, who does the Board know who they can reach out to? Who does the President know? Who does the CFO know, etc? This is one of the advantages of a Board–their relationships can position a firm well going forward because the new hire is not unknown to them and can arrive with important relationships in place.”
