Shadow | No BS Coaching Advice
What is a shadow, and how can it affect you?
Hi, I’m Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. I’m called The Big Game Hunter because I coach people to play the game big. And this is another scope that I’m doing to help you play bigger.
You see, for many of you, the issue isn’t your skills competence. The issue isn’t whether or not you’re a decent human being. It’s you’ve gotten into the habit of playing small. How did you get into their habit? Well, I’ll call it conditioning as one part of it but the other part of it is, there’s a part of you, there’s a belief that you have that maybe you’re not worthy of it. Maybe you’re not capable. There’s this nagging voice in your head that says, “it’s all BS.”
So, then, at the end of the day, what starts to happen is you believe the message. In Jungian philosophy, it’s called shadow. It’s that part of you that subverts yourself, that hard to see. because, by definition, when you think of a shadow, you look behind yourself and all you see is this dark thing there.
Now, I want to encourage you to get some support because, at the end of the day, it’s hard to deal with shadow because you can’t see it. Often, it’s a coach, a therapist, someone who knows you well enough or learns to know you well enough, who will help you with identifying what it is that’s holding you up and holding you back. It’s kind of like, you know, just when you think things are going well, shadow shows up, to trip you up, knock you on your ass and hurt you.
Is that really what you want. You can play bigger, and you can have a lot more fun. If you don’t believe the BS, and you start defeating all those messages that you’ve taken in over the course of years that are holding you back.
