Recession-Proofing Your Career: Re-Connect
By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter
The statistics have been clear for years. Your past relationships will be the most significant way to find work.
Recession-Proof Your Career – 7 Ways to Make Sure You Land Your Next Job Stress-Free
Statistics have shown for years that the most effective way to find work is to use your network of relationships from your past to help you get introductions to new opportunities. Thus, whether you want to stay in your current job or need to find a new one, taking an interest in your network of current and former
colleagues, and getting together informally with them, or formally at networking events, and social situations is going to pay dividends for you.
So don’t ignore the people from the past just because you haven’t spoken to them in a long time. It’s not really difficult to reach out to them and say, ‘hey, it feels like 100 years since we were last in contact. Got some time? Let’s get together again and get reacquainted.
You’re not asking them for anything because you’re not actively looking right now. But you just want to stay reconnected in case you can help one another. There’s a lot more at TheBigGameHunter.us Go to the blog.

Love this tip. Networking is a very important thing and these days people feel like they have to do everything by themself; independtently. That just makes things harder in the long run.
People make things harder on themselves. Most people want to help and, in re-connecting, you’re not job hunting yet. All you’re doing is doing a “Hi! How Are you” call, coffee, drink and reconnecting so you’re not strangers anymore.
