Recession-Proofing Your Career: Don’t Over-Emphasize the Strategic
By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter
For those in management and leadership, this is a mistake many of you make that leaves you twisting in the wind.
For those of you in management or leadership, recession-proofing your career requires that you talk about the tactical things, the day-to-day work that you do, and not just simply the strategic or big-picture work that you do. After all, organizations may not be doing anything new, right? They don’t need people who can think outside the box. They need people who can do stuff.
While you’re still at your existing organization, don’t neglect that part of your work. When you construct your resume and enhance your LinkedIn profile, don’t neglect that part of your work, to the detriment of you and your career. Again, recession-proofing your career, for those of you who are in management and above requires that you will also talk about day-to-day operational work and not just simply the stuff that’s big picture.
