Hi! I'm Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter.. Have you ever been scheduled for a final
interview, told that it was a formality and wound up not getting the job? I know tons
of people have because they'd forgotten something, the basic thing, most people do
when they hear that is. They start to coast into this room.
They start thinking that it is a lock, that they're almost guaranteed to
get the job, that the only thing that can cost them is that they do something
foolish and they try very hard not to be themselves. You see, when you hear things
like you're not competing for the job, there's no other competition, you're the
winner, you know you can't help but feel full of yourself.
But there's a problem and that you ARE competing with someone and it's the idea
that there's someone else out there better and they can keep looking a
little bit longer and they'll find them. It's a fantasy.
It's a romantic notion but for people who are afraid to pull the trigger on
doing a hire, it's a very powerful notion. So, in going into a final round,
you have to go out selling yourself.. Again you have to go out there and into
this meeting as though there's nothing locked up yet because, otherwise, you're
going to start going, "I'm full of myself. There's isn't anything else I can do except
show up and you're going to love me," but that's not true. So I'm Jeff Altman. Excuse
the little parody at the end. I hope you found that enjoyable. Come over to There's a lot more there. Click the tab that
says blog on the website. I'm in the process of moving all my content there

points. most of you are not as good at salary negotiation as you think you
