Mr. Jeff, Are we just wasting our time going online to look for jobs. I
love beating the pavement but Im told most of the time “to go online”;
which frustrates me in my hunt for a job.

Statistically, going online is a waste time. Job boards fill 6% of jobs.
Recruiters fill another 20%. Some recruiters use job boards to fill jobs so
let’s combine both and add some to it for good measure. The two combined
fil 35% of jobs. Networking fills the rest. Not every company advertises or
keeps its website up-to-date and then you have to apply with an applicant
tracking system that uses stupid intelligence to weed people out. Talk to
people and get involved. It works better.

Adwaye, let me give you a better answer. It isn’t tat you are wasting your
time with job boards. It is tat you are making a mistake ONLY USING job
boards to find a job. By only focusing on how to look for a job attacking
35% of jobs, you are ignoring 65% of the job market that doesn’t use job
boards.

No B. S. Job Search Advice: Efficiently Using Job Boards
Job Boards still are incredibly high yield in 2018. People think they are a waste but they just dont know how to use them.
Respectfully, I have already provided the statistics about job boards in a previous comment. The data suggests they are not particularly effective yet shouldn’t be ignored.
i guess its somewhat industry dependent as well
Actually, no, they aren’t. yes, there are certain people within a sector that do better than others but the statistics tend to be pretty consistent.
