Interview Success: Rehearse, Dress Professionally, Speak Enthusiastically

By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

Interviewing for a new job can be nerve-wracking. How will you handle tough questions? What will you wear? Preparation is key to overcoming these fears and landing the role. Follow these three tips:

  1. Conduct Practice Interviews

  • Research the company and role to understand their needs
  • Ask friends/mentors to run mock interviews with common questions
  • Treat practice interviews like the real deal – dress professionally and take them seriously
  1. Dress for Success

  • Business attire, even for casual roles, proves you’re serious about the opportunity
  • Khakis and t-shirts give the wrong impression – dress like the expert you believe you are.
  1. Speak Enthusiastically

  • Convey genuine enthusiasm for the company and position
  • Interviewers can sense disinterest or apprehension – be passionate and engaged
  • Share what excites you about the role and how you’ll contribute

With practice interviews, professional attire, and an enthusiastic mindset, you’ll impress hiring managers. Doing this will boost your confidence so you can ace the real thing. Come prepared, dress to impress, and speak authentically. The job could soon be yours!

If you follow these three tips, you’ll be that much closer to securing the job you want. So, practice, practice, practice. Dress like an All-Star in an outfit makes you feel comfortable, and go to the interview or log on for the video interview feeling enthusiastic. You’ll see your self-confidence skyrocket.
