How Recruiters Steal Your Best People: They Get Fed Up with Being Lied to
One way that recruiters are able to steal your best people is because you never counter them. You never counter their offer. You know, even if the increase is for like $15, $20,000, that’s a drop in the bucket.
When you think about it, what does it cost to replace someone? Putting aside, you may pay an agency fee for someone that’s gonna be more than that $15 or $20,000, what happens is it takes a lot of time, manpower, all of which have a cost to replacing someone, and then you’ve got to get him up to speed. It’s more than the $15 or $20,000. Think about it.
Ask your managers how much time is going to go into interview, screening resumes, getting the team involved with the process. . . it’s a drop in the bucket. Give people the raise, and if you complain that, “whoa, I’m going to have to do it for everyone else,’ so what? They’re out priced for the market, and you’ll be able to keep everyone.
