Recruiters are able to steal your people, steal your best people because your managers overload them. They seem to believe that they’re so good they can handle more and they almost bring them to the point of breaking.
This is where burnout occurs. Your managers overload people. And it’s not about senior management. It’s really about the managers. They take a look around and see who the slugs are in the department and spot the top people and just keep piling the work on top of them. And here’s where it really gets disgusting.
Then they start making rationalizations for why they can’t pay them more . . . and what’s the message that they receive? What’s the message that your people receive when that happens?
