I went to a recent Facebook interview and the recruiter told me she will let me know within a few days if I have been pick for the job. Less in a day, I received a congratulation response on my cell phone with a text message of a animated fireworks around 7:00 pm on Friday and asked me if I will accept the position and I said yes. She said she will call me on Monday and never follow up with me. I sent an email 7 days later and I got no response even though I set my Outlook for read indicator. Both recruiters always hit the read indicator before answering the mail and this time it never happen. I wonder if I been pass over at the last minute or became a victim of agism? Their customer (Facebook) was hiring to fill over 100 people for this position and the job with three shifts will not start at the end of the month on 5-30-17. I thought it was messed up giving me false hope for a few days and could have been more professional to update me on the status. If I did not hear anything on Friday, it probably a lost cause. Who knows, she might be out of office on a break for a whole week or busy processing job applications for the people who have been picked by Facebook.

I’m sorry you went through this experience AND it seems like you are interviewed by a consulting firm or temp agency for position on their staff working Facebook. It is certainly possible that their clients change their mind or that you were scammed. Most of the time, consulting recruiters or third-party agency recruiters work at the whim of their clients and their insanity. You will never know which one it was. You unfortunately are the victim in this situation. My advice is to let it go and learn from the experience. Keep interviewing until you have an offer letter in your hand as protection against situations like this.
