[spp-tweet tweet=”Having the career that you want requires effort . . . But so does NOT have the career that you want.”]
If you’ve never been to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, you are missing something spectacular.
The Vanderbilt home resides on the estate and is amazing both from the outside and the inside.
There are also beautiful gardens that require a lot of attention.
Each day there are people and equipment that tend to the gardens and to the greenhouse that is also there. The flowers and plants are changed seasonally.
Nothing is ever out of place, nor a weed anywhere in sight. That’s because both intention and attention exist.
Contrast that with the way most people manage their careers and their lives. They allow weeds to propagate and never focus on the garden of their career and of their life.
Having the career that you want requires effort . . . But so does NOT have the career that you want.
In fact, for most people, not having the career that they want will require a much greater effort later on.
Having the career that you want will require small amounts of weeding regularly.
The choice is yours as to how you want to run the garden but, using Biltmore as an example, you are better off doing little bits regularly than massive effort at critical times.
