When you want to have a conversation with someone, here is the one sentence and one question.
5 Signs That You Should Step Down From Your Leadership Position
No one has a lot of time to listen or read a lot of BS for you to get an informational interview on LinkedIn. You can do this in two sentences. Really, two sentences is all it takes.
I’m Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. People hire me for no BS job search coaching and career advice globally because I make the process of finding work and succeeding at it much easier. Here we go. Ready? Two sentences: “I’m exploring a career at such and such organization or in such and such field, and I admire the work that you’re doing at fill-in-the-blank name of the company. Would you have 10 to 15 minutes to speak with me about what you’re seeing in the industry?” That simple.
And when you actually have the conversation with someone, at the 15-minute mark, you say to them, “I’ve used up the 15 minutes I asked for. Thank you.” And often they’ll invite you to take more time, or they’ll appreciate the fact that you restricted your time to 10 to 15 minutes, and they’ll be open to more conversations with.
