Your Poker Face | Career Angles

No, this is not about the Lady Gage song but about how you present yourself at work.

Dispassionate.

Flat affect.

Looking dead.

You probably even take that look home with you at the end of the day show it to your wife, husband or partner, children, friends, storeowners… Everyone you come into contact with.

Stop.

Make a decision.

When you work with a poker face and take it home with you, you probably start to express yourself with the same “dead from the neck up” manner to everyone… And feel dead inside, too.

Bring some life back. Take a moment and start to actually connect with how you feel.

It may take practice to start feeling again.

It may take practice to start smiling again.

It may take practice to start telling people how you really feel when they ask.

But your life will become better… Even your work will get better as you start coming alive again.
