thousands of courses and

and
it's unlimited access to content and
they give you a seven day free trial so
you can take all my classes that way and
if you decide not to renew okay you
decided not to renew i'm fine with that
but i'm just simply saying it's a place
where you can learn and grow
and not have to worry about spending
hundreds of dollars for courses like so
many instructors make you do again
use the link in the show notes get a
seven day free trial it will make a
difference in your job search and so
much more and we'll be back in just one
moment
this is no bs job search advice radio
episode 2264.
i'm jeff altman today game hunter and
welcome
i'm just going to remind you
that on tuesday
it's november 24th
that's going to be my last show until
december 1st i'm going to be taking the
thanksgiving week off
we're going to visit family in new york
and um i'm not going to be releasing
shows during that time and when we come
back the first show will be on december
1st
now this one is a question
i think it's delightful and it's
innocent
why is it they get so
upset
when i decide to tell them that i'm
really changing jobs for the money hope
you find this helpful and giving an
honest review wherever you listen to the
show
and we'll be back in just one moment
support for today's show comes from ed
eureka
and eureka's a service where for those
of you who work in technology you
already know you've got to keep your
skills up to speed or else you're going
to be washed out at some time so i'll
simply say edurica makes it inexpensive
and effective for you to learn what you
need to learn in order to stay current
in your field or to learn skills in
order to transfer to something
completely different follow the link in
the show notes i think you'll be
pleasantly surprised
and we'll be back in just one moment
why is it bad to tell an interviewer
that you're looking for a different job
in order to get paid more
after a good interview i had when i said
this she changed her tone abruptly
and ended the interview
i'm making a mental note not to be
honest in the future
now from an employer's perspective
when they see
uh let's see now oh scott i'm glad
you're there scott you're on linkedin
it's working thank you very much i
appreciate your messaging
so what employers
determine when they when you're late
i'm sorry
when you just say that
you're changing jobs for the money they
get a message that you're going to
change jobs again for the money while
you work for them even if that isn't
true
but that's what they think
and the result winds up being that
they think that
um
someone's gonna offer you a thousand
dollars more 500 more whatever the
amount is you're going to head for
another organization
so the result of that winds up being you
send a message to them that they don't
like they like to see loyalty
and unfortunately
you know employers are as loyal to you
as
marriage partners are in this in the
united states fifty percent of marriage
is in the divorce
uh so
they wind up doing things that cause
people to leave money being one factor
you don't want to throw that in their
faces
because as you discovered on this
interview
they don't like it
so
don't give them the money reason even
though that may be the primary one
um you know you can say to them you know
there are a variety of factors coming
into play you know i'm not happy with
the work that i'm doing because i've
been doing it for the last few years and
nothing's really changed i want to do
something new
i like the team team is great i also
like to get paid more because the
market's changing they're not providing
any raises so
you can say things like that but it's
not emphasizing the money as it seems as
though you did
and by the way if you're on chat
so that's today's show i hope you found
it helpful and if you did here are a few
things i can do to help you with your
job search beyond simply being your
coach
first of all i've got a new book out
called the right answers to tough
interview questions it is like a
cookbook with answers to
tons of interview questions that you're
going to be asked on interviews
and if you pair it up with my other new
book the ultimate job interview
framework
they are a
terrific pair of books to help you with
interviewing in addition to a new
service where you can practice mock
interviews
if you go to the big game hunter dot u s
forward slash mock
i've got a service there very
inexpensive like 99
where
we have mock interviews set up i'm going
to be adding more to it very soon but
you can record your answers to them and
then i can critique them and help you
perform better on them
you probably have noticed my show notes
are pretty thorough with
products and services that can help you
with your search
and connect with me on linkedin at
linkedin.com forward slash i n forward
slash the big game hunter lastly my
website has a ton of great information
that's the big game hunter dot us now if
you're not ready to go there and go
through the blog
put the address in your phone the big
game hunter dot us
jeff altman so this way when you're
ready to go you have a way of getting
back to my website
hope you have a terrific day and most
importantly
be great
