When We Think of Jobs | No BS Job Search Advice

By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

A recent Wall Street Journal article about 11 million jobs being available in the US, prompted a response to the misleading data.  I wrote:

When most people think of jobs, they think of full-time positions, not part-time roles. Many of these positions are low-wage jobs. In addition, although the national numbers may appear high, we don’t have a national economy. We have many local economies with low-wage jobs, high salary positions, part time and full-time jobs. Data on new jobs is also complicated with remote work. For example, if a person works 20 hour p/w for a company in Virginia, 10 for a company in Chicago, and 10 for a firm in Jersey City, NJ, three governors are claiming credit for new jobs but only 1 person actually has a job.

The way we look at jobs has to be redefined to modern times so we are not misled or misrepresented to.
