nice video
I get a weekly headhunter newsletter that in no-nonsense term explains how those ATS’ help people not to find jobs. You probably know it, his nickname is “crocodile”.
The only approach I found to be positive in job hunting is to make it the #2 project, with #1 being learning towards a certificate. Dealing with bench time was made semi-pleasant this way, and you actually will get a better understanding of how slow most businesses operate in their hiring practices.
I want to take you to task about waiting too long. One of the realities I have ran into is that you will be kept in the dark until the absolute last possible moment. And you’re probably have been running at > 100% in the meantime. Your savings, minimalist budgeting, and outlook on adversity determine how long it’ll take to go from working to job hunting mode. As a consultant, I decided over a decade ago to make my own daily action plan and have it ready and updated. Executing something you have on paper is a lot less stressful than trying to figure it out. Including a perpetual yearly calendar where you’ve kept track of interactions with potential employers. (December through mid January are low response times because no one has firmed-up budgets yet).
I assume you’e speaking about Nick. Yes, we know and like one another. Thanks for sharing how you avoid “waiting too long.” I knew that one bothered you and hit a chord. I believe it is the second job everyone has to engage in (and no one does). Unlike olden days when companies could be trusted to look after employees, everyone is responsible for their own careers and cannot abdicate that responsibility. I’m sure you’ve heard me say that many times. You do it better than most. Most do nothing or make it ad hoc.
