What Recruiters Know That You Don’t: They Love People Who Stand Out

One thing that recruiters know that most of you don’t, is that when they’re asking you certain questions, they’re looking for atypical answers. They’re not lookingStupid Interview Mistakes | Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter for the standard answer that gets canned over and over again, and is said by everyone.

For example, if they ask you why you want to work for them, don’t give them the ‘Oh, you are a very good company to work for. Everything I have found tells me that.’ Wrong answer. They’re looking for you to have done a little bit of homework, look excited, and impress the heck out of them with that. So

the stuff that’s on page one of the website, ‘we are a wonderful firm.’ No, that’s not the right answer. What they’re looking for is someone who dug a little bit deeper, maybe watched a YouTube video or two or something on Facebook, that allows them to see that you spent a little bit of time and it matter.

    An example may help!

Seems like a good opportunity to introduce a bit of humor if that’s the audience we’re working with.
