Trends to Watch for in 2024

I remember when the hot technology was IBM 360 computers and programming in COBOL and/or BAL. (look it up). The result was a lot of 1401 and 7080 Autocoder programmers were made obsolete.
I remember when PCs showed up in offices and secretaries became nervous about losing their jobs . . . and a lot did as users started to do their own secretarial work.
I remember when ATMs started to show up in Citibank branches in New York and people feared losing their teller jobs.
Sundar Pichai of Google discussed how the firm was going to lay off 30000 people directly attributable to AI. They already have an AI system that replaces many people in their ad sales group that creates and sells ads for the firm. This is the tip of the spear.
You need to start thinking about how you and others you know can be made irrelevant by AI and how you can reposition your career to embrace the new technology just like the programmers did, just like secretaries did, just like tellers did and just like many others have.
The time to act is now.
