Hi! I'm Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. I'm referred to as The Big Game Hunter
because I've been hunting down leaders and staff organizations of 40-plus years.
We're going to do a brainteaser this morning, something that actually is asked
on an interview by a firm at their interviews. I find this one amazing that
someone actually thought of this question but they did. Firms use it. Let
me just review it with you. An apple cost forty cents, a
banana cost sixty cents and a grapefruit cost eighty cents. How much does a pear
cost? And they think that this is going to determine whether or not someone is a
good employee! Insane, but firms do and and the idea here is what are the
commonalities that could be figured out in order to determine how the pricing
was established. The name of the fruit is not a distraction here. It's the key and
the key here is the number vowels. It's kind of like wheel a fortune. You know,
I'm going to buy that vowel. And apple has how many vowels? The answer is two, hence 40.
banana has how many vowels. 3 and 60. Grapefruit has four so the answer with regard
Two pears is two vowels. Forty cents. Now what they're really looking for is your
thought process-- whether you can quickly dissect something for a common point and
then take action based on, again, no one's hiring you based upon your opinions of
fruit. This is a process of quick logic two see whether or not you can solve
the puzzle. This is Jeff Altman. Hope you found this video helpful. If you did and you're
