The Place to Look for a Job Few People Look | JobSearchTV.com
There is a place hidden in plain sight where many of you can job hunt or change careers hidden in sight.
There’s a place to look for a job where very few people look. And it’s this is going to be a short video today, because I want to point out that most of you miss a golden opportunity to leverage your experience and find a job internal to your current firm.
Now, some organizations don’t make that possible. I want to concede that right away. But many do, particularly larger firms. What relationships are you building internally that would allow you to position yourself for a transfer to another group or department? If you’re thinking of a career change, how are you communicating with HR or talent acquisition, your new training, so that in this way, you can get considered for positions internally in your new field?
Whether this is an internal transfer doing similar work to what you’re doing now, or a complete completely different field where you’ve been getting training and experiences, looking for something internal, especially now, is an option that exists for you, and many firms would take you up on it.
So don’t be reluctant to broach this with HR, with the HR business partner for your group, any of those people and you know, at a particular point, you can say, ‘should I talk with my boss about this because I don’t want he or she to be surprised if one day we come in and you’re talking with me about another role.’ And they may say not at this time, I want to keep it as an available option, but I’ll tell you when to do it.
