I’m sure you realize it’s easier to network with people who might have worked from your current firm who’ve gone on to your target organization. I’m going to explain how to do that. I’m Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. People hire me for no BS job search advice and coaching globally, because I make the process so much easier for people.
And what I want you to do is go to LinkedIn, and do a search by title in the search box toward the top of the page. Once you get that, it’s first going to give you a bunch of jobs. But I want you to click the bubble for people, and then go to all filters, and then look for your target firms there. And where necessary, you add them into the search. But then the next part of this is if you look below that field, there’s past companies and you put your current firm there, and you try to locate people who’ve moved from your current firm to your target organization and contact them. See if they might be able to help you get an introduction to a hiring manager, to a talent acquisition person, but preferably a hiring manager, so you don’t have to go through this application process that proves so time consuming and is often a waste of time.
