The 4 Easiest Steps to Prepare for a Final Job Interview | JobSearchTV.com
By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter
I have done many videos and podcasts about final interviews. These are the 4 easiest steps you can use to prepare.
00:05
Hi, I’m Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter, and I’m a former recruiter. Now people hire me for no BS career advice. And today, I want to talk with you about easy ways four easy ways that will allow you to prepare for a final job interview.
00:25
Now, the first thing I want to encourage you to do is to review the job description, the requirements of the position based upon what you read, and what you’ve been told so far, in earlier interviews, because they may be a little inconsistent. And one of your questions that you can ask at the end of the interview is, ‘you know, the job description says this; people haven’t really mentioned this part of it to me, and I want to make sure I know what I’m stepping into so I can make you happy. So review the requirements of the position and what you’ve been told.
01:01
Number two is, review your answers to questions you were asked on previous interviews because you want your answers to remain congruent with what you’ve said previously. Nothing will get you rejected faster than an inconsistency from one interview or another.
01:21
Number three, if it’s on your resume, even if it’s at the bottom of page three or four, you need to be prepared to discuss it because this person who you’re meeting with, often, they don’t really know a lot about what you do,. They’ve got people between them an,d the work. So they may pick on oddities from your background, out of curiosity to engage in conversation. There’s nothing worse for you than to be surprised and asked about something from the antiquities of your life, and not be prepared to talk about it.
01:55
Last and to me, this is as important as anything else, connect with the interviewer as a person. Now, that doesn’t mean you have to be the life of the party, if you know what I mean. It means you talk with him as you believe they like to be spoken with. Now what do I mean by that? If they’re friendly and gregarious, they like friendly and gregarious. If they’re analytical and businesslike, you want to speak with him in analytical ways and be businesslike. If they’re introspective, you want to present as thoughtful, meet them where they are on the day that you’re meeting with them, and your personality should be congruent with who you are as well. So that’s the dance you have to do between being connective and being real.
