I see so many people make this mistake. It’s incredible!
I'm Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter, a career and leadership coach the head
coach for JobSearchCoachingHQ.com.. Let us talk today about one of those
classic final interview mistakes incredibly stupid to do but happens way
too often. Now it can happen earlier in the process, like third interviews, final
interviews, of course, sometimes even the second but most of the time it is
supposed to occur later in the process and the mistake that people make is they
start treating people at the new firm at the employer like they're best friends
They open up completely. They have unguarded unvarnished comments
about things they can guess intimate details of their life and of their
career and the result ones that being the employer sitting there going ok
dodged a bullet on that one." I want to remind you that a final interview, they
are evaluating you for employment, just like they are at the first except you're
further along the process you are competing in all probability with
someone else or someone multiple someone else's and, as such, you're always in
there putting your best foot forward.. Your always there selling. You're
always there presenting yourself as the expert that you claim to be because
otherwise otherwise opening up in this way gives them reason to question you
now I want to be clear I'm talking about oversharing
yeah it's one thing to be friendly and nice but also to be calculating in that
friendly and nice you know after all you don't want to be saying things like I'm
thinking of divorcing my husband I'm just using that as an extreme example
but people have done that. I know because I've gotten the phone calls). So again, I
just want to remind you over sharing is a problem confessing intimate details of
your life-- it's a problem treating the people who are
there to evaluate you like they're your best friend and wrong that's not what
their job is their job is to figure out whether not they want to work with you
period. Hope you found this helpful. I'm Jeff Altman. Visit tTheBigGameHunter.us.
