Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter explains when you should upgrade your LinkedIn free account to a premium account.
I want to answer the question landmass very regularly by people who I coach.. "Should I stick with the free version of LinkedIn or should I go to a premium version?"
The simplest answer is, the best answer is stick with the free version until you start bumping up against things that you want to do that you cannot do. Once that starts to happen once or twice, 3 times, upgrade to a premium version.
I want to mention that LinkedIn has a program for veterans that allows you to get a premium version, a job seeker version, of LinkedIn for free for one year. You have to join the veterans mentor network in order to get access to this. For those of you who are separating from the military, it is a free tool worth worth several hundred dollars to you just for signing up with the mentor network. You'll get coaching you get advice and job leads from it. You get a year of free job seeker service from LinkedIn.
So, back to my original question,, "when should you upgrade?" When you can't do the things that you want to do, you need to do, you know you have to do, but your free membership is standing in the way.
Then, from there, if the 1st level of upgrade that you choose is starting to get restrictive, look to see if you can upgrade that as well.
