Should I Tell Them I’m Interviewing at Multiple Companies? | JobSearchTV.com

By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

Using a metaphor that I’m sure you’ll understand, I explain my thinking.

Leveraging Your Network

Should I tell them I’m interviewing at multiple companies? Oh! Why should I do it? Showed I do it? I’m not sure. I’m Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. I’m a coach out of people professionally in a variety of different ways–job search, hiring more effectively managing and leading, dealing with workplace related issues a whole host of different. Should you tell people that you’re interviewing in multiple places? Would you tell someone you’re dating you’re going out with multiple people? Interviewing is like dating. There’s a certain assumption that’s made early in the process that you’re involved with other people, other companies but there comes a point where each party wants a commitment from the other right and as you get closer to that commitment time (which is the offer), you start talking about being involved with other interviews. And when you’re asked or inform them of that, understand they’re going to follow-up. “So where do we stand with one another?” Like I said, there’s an assumption that you’re interviewing in multiple places beyond that business. Your job is to make them fall in love. Everything else is superfluous
