My experience in recruiting goes back to The Stone Ages when technology was typing.
In those days, he would never consider double-sided resumes. The typewriter will inflict too much damage on the paper. In addition, if you made a typing mistake you have two choices–retype the entire resume or use whiteout (later replaced byCorrecTape) to cover up the mistake.
Awful.
As we moved to PCs and, more importantly, laser printers, double-sided printing became much easier. Yet here we are years later, decades later with an employer who wants a resume printed.
Someone asked a poll question on LinkedIn about this.
My answer was, “Neither. Why print them at all?”
How times have changed.
Most answers will along the same lines.
Print?
Virtual!
They want you to kill trees!
Most were variations on this theme.
The person in the poll said that the employer specifically asked for a printed resume.
Thus, I responded by saying, “Let me ask you a question directly. Generationally, I come out of the printed resume era. Single-sided should be the answer because any firm is asking for a printed resume will not know enough to flip it over UNLESS you tell them it’s double-sided when you hand it to them. If you’re comfortable saying, “it’s a double-sided resume,” as you hand it to them, then do so.”
