Sabotaging Your Job Search: Missing Critical Information

Sabotaging Your Job Search: Missing Critical Information

By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

The Big Game Hunter tells you one of the most effective ways to sabotage your job search.

Finding Rewarding Careers After a Felony Conviction

I’m going to teach a great technique for sabotaging your job search. So, here is the technique. You want to do it? It’s your prerogative. I think you’re crazy but people seem to be doing it all the time.

You don’t put your city, state and ZIP Code on the resume and you have a phone number there that doesn’t correlate with where you live.

Do you think recruiters are searching all the time based upon your phone number or do they search by where you’re living in, most likely ZIP Code? ZIP Code. That’s the way these systems are set up and if you work in technology, you’re an idiot if you don’t know that.

So I got yet the hundredth resume this week (or what seems like the hundredth resume this week) of someone who didn’t put their location and the only reason I know they’re are in the Bay area is because he happened to mention that in an email to me.

I’m seeing his phone number that correlates the someplace in upstate New York. So, no interest, no ZIP Code, no city, State, no nothing! And a recruiter is supposed to know that this phone number is actually in the Bay area.

So if you want to sabotage job hunting for now and for years to come, please continue to not put your ZIP Code on your resume or your city, state and ZIP Code on your resume.

I understand you don’t want to have identity theft and put your actual street address on it. I understand. But not having ZIP Code on it?

Give me a break!
