Recession-Proofing Your Career: Stand Out
By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter
Do you want to be one of the quiet people at meetings?
Have you ever gone to meetings and there’s one or two people actually ask questions, speaking up, offering ideas, and everyone sits quietly against the wall?
And later on, worse than that, they wind up complaining about the people who speak. Well, I’m going to encourage you, to recession proof your career, one of the things you have to do is to stand out, be visible, be visible in a good way. Ask questions, complete work ahead of schedule, do it under budget, a lot of things along those lines are going to get your positive attention. And that’s what you want to be doing. Standing out in positive ways, not for stupid reasons, but in positive ways that would allow people to go “We can’t get rid of them.” I’m Jeff Altman.
