Recession-proofing your career also includes cleaning up your online presence.
Google yourself. If you don’t find anything, you’ve got to clean that up, too, and get yourself more well-known. That’s part of the problem of being invisible. If your profile, if your online presence, has too many tweets about politics or nonsense, then clean that up. Delete some of those tweets. Get them out of the way so that they don’t interfere with people evaluating you for what you know what you’re capable of.
Distractions are as bad as you can possibly get. Focus on what’s important to you going forward.
