I discuss a few ways to figure this out. On the show, I mentioned Core Map. To take the Core Map test and receive a discount, email bruce(at)spectracomm.com and mention me.
I also mentioned a book, “How The World Sees You.” http://amzn.to/1CNfJId
What Is The Best Way to Get a Job When Unemployed And Over 50?
This is the hard thing for a lot of people and that should be the natural one, but it becomes the hard one for a lot of people. It’s called, “What Makes Your Heart Sing?”
Many people take the time to figure out what makes them happy professionally or a way to achieve it. Some people do it, but most people don’t. I think what happens is they work a job that leaves them deadened. You’ve learned the hard way that work is just something like WORK. It’s painful. This is an opportunity to explore alternatives that can make your heart rejoice and feel free.
For a lot of people, that is an alien thought. What you really good? What do you really love doing? What is something that you really love doing that someone would pay you for?
I know for myself, I became a headhunter many years ago and then there was a point there were decide to go to graduate school to get an MSW. I had the good fortune of meeting my wife there. We decide to have a child, buy a house… All sorts of different things. So is chilled my psychotherapy practice idea and became a social worker for job hunters. In doing so and now moving into coaching, I start to share certain things and ideas the really get excited.
Answering Behavioral Interview Questions The Right Way
The idea of coaching, job hunters, more than “placing them in jobs,” has become something that really floats my boat.
For you, if you are not sure what to do or how to go about doing it, take 1 of the quality tests I want to be clear that why speak about Myers-Briggs or Strengths Finders or Core-Map (I thought this was a really interesting one), whichever one you use, don’t do the online versions of the test because most of them are just not validated, don’t necessarily cover all the material as well as a person administering the test well. Making investment in yourself to figure out what your natural tendencies are.
I really liked Core-Map when I took it. I’m probably going to get a core map certification to administer it, but I don’t have it now.. Even if I did, I wouldn’t put it in the show notes. I will point you to someone else so that you don’t think it’s a plug for me making money.
At the end of the day, people learn with their natural tendencies are and what their skills are really good at, what their interests are what leaves them passionate. There was a book that I read the have the fascination test in it. It is Sally Hogshead’s book, “How The World Sees You.”
When all is said and done, find what your true nature is and start exploring those possibilities so that, in this way, you don’t have to be deadened in your next job or in your career. Even if you don’t apply it in this job search, you can start thinking about over the next few years and start exploring avenues we can start maximizing your true nature.
