Pop Goes The Weasel!

There have been stages to the workforce returning, not one monolithic response. The first phase, “Why am I risking my life going to work where if I stay home, I can make more money” coincides with the initial period of RTO or, more often RTW (return to work). The second phase, “Now I remember why I hated my job” reflects what is commonly referred to as The Great Resignation. Primarily low wage/skill workers decided to listen to Twisted Sister’s We’re Not Gonna Take It and didn’t.
As white collar workers started to pay attention to the signs of mass turnover, they took action, too, hence The Great Reshuffle. We have now begun the next phase where music stops and everyone needs a seat in musical chairs.
Why is it that “Pop Goes The Weasel” keeps playing in my mind?
