Patience | Career Angles

I recently had a reminder day about the importance of patience. I woke up to a message from the web hosting firm I use telling me that my sites were taken down because of a malware infection. It took the better part of the day of us messaging back and forth before the sites were brought back up. No criticism of
the host but we are working through email to get this done.
Then I listened to an episode of “Masters of Scale,” hosted by Reid Hoffman where he interviews Tory Burch and along the way, the theme of strategic patience appeared often in her story.
There are times when my anger has gotten the best of me and I have blown up out of frustration they had no point whatsoever. Yelling at the support person from a web hosting firm accomplishes very little AND I don’t even feel better when it’s over. All that’s happened is that I’ve released a little bit of the steam that’s been brewing within me without even making a cup of tea.
Sometimes it works better to say, “I’m frustrated because I can’t figure out how to change this,” rather than throw a tantrum.
If you’re really smart, you can follow up by saying, “Do you have any ideas? What am I missing?”
Someone may actually have the idea! Eureka!
Isn’t it wonderful when you get some help and it doesn’t have to all land on your shoulders?
