All you parents, keep this section for the time your teens need it!
My nephew asked for some advice about finding a job after college. He had challenges in his first school as a freshman and was now entering a new one. His parents had spoken with him about the importance of grades, but you know teens don’t listen to their parents. The advice has to come from outside the immediate family to be heard.
Without knowing that his parents had counseled the importance of good grades, I started by saying that good grades from a good school always give you an advantage over your competition.
Then, I said the one thing that got the point across.
“Four years of partying means 40 years of poverty.”
It may not be true in every instance, but developing the habits and discipline in a good school to excel is a terrific habit to bring into the workforce.
