Making Yourself Desirable to an Employer

I lived across the street from The Soup Kitchen better known as The Soup Nazi. He had a smaller store than was depicted on Seinfeld–there was no interior. You stood online on 55 Street and the prices were double what was depicted on the show for the lobster bisque.
What made him desirable BEFORE Seinfeld? What made you desire his soup to stand on line in the cold?
When you got back to the office (or home in my case), you opened the paper bag with the anticipation that you had something unique, Your taste buds would be tantalized by the smell. The piece of bread would be crusty and the little dessert packet (a strawberry or two as I recall) would not be flavorless. Our anticipation drove the excitement of the experience.
As applies to job search, Al created an experience and met it. It’s one thing to do it one time and have someone never come back. It’s another to do it repeatedly. Being desirable is a feeling that is purely emotional, unlike a fact (can I do the job).
It involves the ability to evoke a feeling in someone, like falling in love. Once someone is invited for an interview, most people are qualified. The work is in the relationship between you & the interviewer(s) to evoke the feeling.
