I want to talk with you today about how to handle the 15 minute interview... You know, the employer or HR person who says, "We're going to spend about 15 minutes talking. That's it." How do you handle interviews like that? Real simple. 1. You need to be concise. This is not the time to be verbose or going too long stories. They are telling you that you have 15 minutes to create an impression. That isn't a lot of time. Here is the binding is. Imagine for a 2nd. The 1 of the questions that they ask is one that really needs some texture. It really need some detail. This is how you respond. "I could go into a lengthy answer for you But I want to be respectful of your time. Would you like a high level answer that gives you an overview or would you like me to go into more detail? That may cause you to run a little long. Whatever you want is fine with me. I'll give you the answer you prefer." What this lets them know is there could be more information that they could have gotten from you. What they are often trying to do is can you get your ideas across in a concise manner and (2) are you quick? Are you smart? Are you capable? Can you formulate ideas quickly without a lot of time and under the gun.
