Who gets ahead at your company?
Is the person who does the best work or the person who has befriended someone and does average work?
Is it the one who has the “personal relationship” with their boss?
Is it the one who goes out after work for a few and sees them after hours who moves up?
Are decisions made based upon competence? Do other factors enter into the equation?
I don’t sit in judgment of those who’ve advanced based upon personal relationships of any form. The question you need to answer for yourself is whether you want to do much the same thing at this company to get ahead?
If not, move on and stop finger-pointing, criticizing, complaining and, in many ways, wasting your time and energy on something you can’t change. All that does is wear you out and break you down. Nothing good comes from that.
Find an organization that values you for who you are and what you can do.
