Standing Out on an Interview
When employers decide they’re going to fill a position, they craft a job description that outlines what skills they need someone to know what a person’s role and responsibilities will be. Things along those lines. Why don’t you do that, too?
I’m Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. People hire me for no BS coaching and career advice globally, because I make job search, hiring, managing, leading, dealing with workplace issues, much easier for people.
And the fact of the matter is, why don’t you create a job description for yourself? Why don’t you ask yourself what’s most important to me in the next job or organization? What will I need to see or hear to believe it’s a good choice for me. In doing that, start writing out what you want to be doing.
What experiences you want to display for employers, what questions you might ask of them to determine whether or not they could provide it. It doesn’t mean you can’t adapt it, just like they adapt their job descriptions. However, you can take a little bit of time to figure out what serves you? What you want to be doing, the kind of manager you want to work for, the kind of benefits you’re going to receive. Everything that relates to their job description, you want to have in your job description, too. After all, why not? Why can’t you figure out at the beginning of the search what it is you want to accept?
