People are losing out on opportunities because employers are looking at social media and discovering things about them that are embarrassing and dumb.
Clean up the dirt about you online, I'm Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter, a coach who helps people professionally in a number of different ways. And I know you think your background looks pristine online. But have you taken a look at some of the pictures from five years ago to see whether or not that's really the way you want to be depicted? How about some of your posts where you advocated for one candidate or another, one policy position or another, I don't care if it's Twitter, or Facebook or wherever. Clean it up because half the country disagrees with you about politics, right? And you don't want to do all the work to have a great resume or network your way into an organization and walk in or do a video interview with them and be behind the 8-ball right away because someone disagrees with your viewpoints about something. Remember, organizations want to hire people who they think will fit in. A group of progressives are not going to be happy with a group of/ a person who's a conservative. and vice versa. You as a conservative may not be happy working with a bunch of progressives. Look at if practically. Do you really want a job? Or do you want to be right? And I gotta put it this way, and no one cares if you're right. At least the decision makers, right? Have you ever persuaded someone in a position of authority to change their mind? Of course not. Clean up your social backgrounds online. Clean up some of your posts. Look for photos that could be, shall we say, awkward if you're interviewing with someone in an organization? I'm Jeff Altman.
